Grand Hotel Zermatterhof
The Grand Hotel Zermatterhof is much more than a place to stay, it is a place to come and enjoy life – a place where you can relax and while away the hours with nothing in particular to do. It leaves nothing to be desired. After all, true luxury is being able to enjoy doing absolutely nothing at all. However, if you do want to head outside, you don’t have a long way to go, and getting back “home” is never difficult.
3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat
Wisps of cloud float by the window. A small section of blue peeps out from behind the blanket of grey. Two minutes later, the sky is a sea of blue. On the Gornergrat, 3,100 metres above sea level, you can experience the power of the Alps up close. It is usually only explorers, mountain climbers and pilots who come to these altitudes. At the Kulmhotel Gornergrat, this is where you check in.
Riffelhaus 1853
This traditional hotel dates back to the golden age of Alpine exploration. It is a place where mountain climbing and hotel history was written. In 1853, the Riffelhaus became Zermatt’s second hotel. It opened even before the Gornergrat Bahn was built. Originally a hotel for mountaineers, the Riffelhaus is now a comfortable mountain hotel, but has maintained the charm of its fascinating past.
Hotel Continental
The Hotel Continental is housed in a traditional Valais chalet that exudes warmth and cosiness. The furniture is immaculate and the service is friendly and courteous. The laid-back atmosphere guarantees a perfect holiday. The Hotel Continental is in a great central location. It’s a short walk to the mountain railway stations, and you’re right in the centre of the village in the evenings.
Hotel Schwarzsee
The Hotel-Restaurant Schwarzsee is situated in the midst of the mountains, with the Matterhorn right on the doorstep, and it is a real mountain hotel. The rooms and furniture are simple. The surrounding area is a natural paradise: waking up to the stunning view of the majestic Zermatt mountains is an incredible experience that truly never gets old.
Hörnlihütte
The hut on the Hörnligrat sits 3,260 metres above sea level and is the starting point for the ascent of the majestic Matterhorn. A total of 130 beds in the Hörnlihütte serve as lodging for mountaineers from July through September.
Hotel Tannenhof
The recently newly opened Hotel Tannenhof is a hidden gem with designer charm. It is located about 8 minutes’ walk from Zermatt train station and offers a versatile choice of rooms for all guest needs including an Italian restaurant.
