The Kleine Matterhorn marks the western end of the Monte Rosa group and is separated from its larger, famous brother - the Matterhorn - by the Theodul Pass.
In 1979, the construction of a new cableway made the Kleine Matterhorn accessible and it now boasts the highest vantage point platform in Europe. What's more, the mountain has become the starting point for many mountain tours as well as for year-round ski enjoyment on the Theodul Glacier.
The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise Restaurant & Shop was opened on the Kleine Matterhorn to coincide with Christmas 2008. Built in compliance with the Minergie-P standard, the building interior offers seating for up to 150 people.
Even when it comes to gastronomy, new avenues are being pursued on the Kleine Matterhorn: the menu in the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise Restaurant consists predominantly of Asian dishes.
Visitors to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise Shop can also stock up on souvenirs, and even accommodation at practically 4,000 metres a.s.l. is possible.
